This page is created for any descendants of Joe Frank Stobaugh and Bettie Seaton Alexander of Arkansas. If they are your grandparents, then this is part of your heritage and ancestry… and it’s an interesting one!!
You are the lineage of colonialists and pioneers, military officers, Justices of the Peace, officers of the Law, teachers, clergymen, Chiefs, Earls, Lords and Ladys, Knights, Princes and Princesses, Kings and Queens… and the aunt of President Thomas Jefferson. Born in 1978, I am an EIGHTH generation Arkansan. Among our grandparents are those who - generation after generation - have developed and led-in their communities and regions. We had many who were among the first to this “new world” - and several were born on this continent in the 1600s.
This website project of mine was started in November of 2024 after a few years of work preceding it. You can also view my tree on Ancestry.com - where I first started exploring our genealogy. I’m happy to share my own personal spreadsheet database which will allow you to organize the entire list of individuals according to what your query is - i.g. birth date, locations, last name - just email or text me and I’ll connect you to it. Another thing I’m working on is a map of known residential locations, so let me know if you’d like to see what I have so far. My hope is to also provide some space for my mother and aunts to tell their story and memories here, so that those who find this page can know about their history - which is ours!
If you’re school-aged, consider jumping in here to see what your grandparents were up to during the time periods that you’re studying. There are a few names in our history that might just show up in the text books you’re looking at! Another great resource is runningreality.org - which is a timeline-oriented global map platform that displays territories for any given day in history - worldwide.
If you find this collection of information interesting or helpful, I’d love to hear about what you’re working on! I’m happy to give tips and suggestions to anyone starting their own research projects. Pretty early on, I chose to go after grandparents, specifically. The aunts/uncles/cousins add so much to the online trees that it got overwhelming quickly. It just depends on what you’re interested in, or hoping to accomplish.
One other resource that I’ll mention here is wikitree.com, which is a free source of information… but that info doesn’t always jive with details that I’ve already found. That being said, I encourage you to utilize it, but wear your critical thinking cap while you do. You’ll undoubtedly find contradictions here and there.
If you are related to us and would like to share your research, FANTASTIC! Just reach out!
Glad you’re here,
Aunt Em
